We apply two main technologies for generation of human cell lines that maintain their primary like functionality. The first technology for generation of human cell lines is by immortalization using the catalytic subunit of human telomerase (hTERT). Using ectopic overexpression of hTERT, cells can be immortalized without losing key cell type specific functionalities. For this, we have licenced in hTERT based patents from Geron Corp. The second technology is based on reprogramming human urine derived cells. This technology has been developed in cooperation with Guangzhou Institute of Biomedicine and health (GIBH), Chinese Academy of Sciences, China and is refined using integration free repromming based on mRNA transfections, licenced in from Fraunhofer Gesellschaft.
